Our experience

Our History

SBC was started in 1977 as Holmes/McKee Associates (HMA). HMA had clients from several different industries, but its heaviest concentration was in the automotive industry in the areas of Sales, Service, and Parts.

In 1987, Mr. Holmes left HMA and Mr. McKee became President and sole shareholder of the newly renamed company. Strategic Business Communications, Inc. (SBC) then began its focus on sales, sales management, and marketing training and consulting.

In 1995, SBC expanded its efforts to perform services in Latin America, the Caribbean, and Asia. At that point, Jaime “Jim” Hernandez joined the company as Vice President. Jim brought with him not only knowledge of Spanish and the auto industry, but also a background in sales and marketing from a variety of different industries.

By 2006 out of client demand Jim and an added team grew SBC to incorporate Meeting and Event Planning services for clients. Since then Events by SBC has managed 1000’s of corporate events all over the Americas.

In 2007, SBC invested in developing their own survey tool offering online Customer Profile Surveys, which has grown into surveys that measure customer satisfaction, Net Promoter Score, encourage positive reviews, conduct market polls, and SWOT analysis.

As President since 2009 Jim continues this work for over 30 international and domestic clients. Along the way Jim became a partner of SBC and by 2009, Jim Hernandez became the sole shareholder.

In 2013 SBC, Inc. was recognized as an INC 5000 honoree, and in 2015 became a Certified Minority Business (MBE).
